Website setup: In this page, I am going to teach you in details about how to write your post in WordPress and how to publish in your website.
I have written in alrenpages.com about How to Install WordPress In Bluehost. If you have read that and you follow here, it means you are now ready and would like it to publish your website or blog online.
Let’s now proceed to step one.
STEP #1: OPEN YOUR WORDPRESS ACCOUNT
WordPress sent you an email for your login information after you have completely installed their system in your web hosting – the username or email address and password.
You can login to your WP account using the login information by clicking the link they sent you in the email or by typing in your browser your domain name plus wordpress login code.
Example: yourdomain.com/wp-admin or yourdomain.com/wp-login.php –mine is alrenpages.com/wp-admin.
STEP #2: LOGIN TO WORDPRESS
As you see the screenshot below which will popup if you typed correctly in your browser your domain name with the login information (WP code) sent to you via email.
Write your username or email address in the first bar. Be sure not to forget to write your password and hit login. You are now ready to go….
STEP #3: OPEN THE POST TEXT AREA
From your WordPress Dashboard at the right side, open “Posts” click “Add New” in the left column.
THE TEXT AREA
When it is open, you will see the text area that looks like notepad in your computer if you are familiar with it. Look that screenshot below that’s the text area which you can write, add photos, movies, links and so forth you want to post online.
In this area, it needs more knowledge about how to apply html codes. For the beginners, they need to switch to the visual area. Details in step number four.
STEP #4: WRITE YOUR POST
Before writing anything – for the beginners be sure to click the visual button. That’s beside the text button at the top corner of the right side of the textarea. Through this format you will be typing your post or articles much like when you are writing in Microsoft Word.
THE VISUAL AREA
If you cannot see the other options at the top row like what you see at the photo above or like in microsoft word click the “visual” button to make them show up.
Write the title of your post not more than 65 letters in the title tab at the top.
VISUAL AREA OPTIONS
In the visual area you have editing and formatting options at the top such as bold, italic, centering, headings, and more. The visual area is for the easiest writing. In case you need to enter HTML, switch to the Text button – this area is for those who knew html coding.
You can also add photos, movies and PDF files by uploading them using the “Add Media button. Click the “Add Media” button at the top of your post window to upload from your computer those files. When uploading is done click “Insert into Post.”
In creating a link in your post – highlight the text you want to make a link and click the link icon. It looks like a chain – on the formatting area at the top row. When a popup appears write or paste the URL you want the link to go on.
You can also save your work if in case you don’t want it to publish online by clicking on save draft button at the right side bar. This is so very important having your own website setup.
If you want to see on your browser your post click “preview” button.
STEP #5: PUBLISH YOUR POST
When your post is completed, you can publish it online by clicking the blue button “Publish” at the right side area. After it is published your post is now live online.
Remember, saving your draft is helpful if you are not quite ready for your post to go live. It is not necessary to click publish button when you are not yet finished – just keep it saved. At any time you can go back and add or edit your post before you hit publish button.
Clicking the publish button will make your post go live online immediately.
